WHAT IS IT??
The Magical Mystery Bike Tour is here to take you away and open the doors of the Magical World of cycling. Those participating in this trip will not only have the chance to see the world in a completely new light, but they will never want to leave their bikes again. From then on, instead of reaching for the keys to their car, they will be taking their two wheels to discover the mysteries hidden in the bike world as they peddle to their desired destination.
One of the most magical aspect of cycling is that you move slower than when you are in a car and you have the freedom to stop whenever, wherever you wish in order to appreciate things that catch your attention. If you hear music that you enjoy, you can stop and watch the musician stroll past you blowing through his/her saxophone.
Why?
There is a growing cycling culture in Glasgow that is not being addressed by the Glasgow city council. Although the bike is by far the quickest, most efficient and environmentally friendly means of getting around in the city, there are hardly any bike facility, bike lanes are paired up taxis and buses and the list goes on.
Although the city council claims that there are up to "375km of identified cycle route" (http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/en/Residents/GettingAround/Cycling/) the majority of them are no longer than a couple of hundred meters before they get cut by a road, a building, or a parking lot.
Who?
Urban Playground is a group of performers, artists, activists that use spectacle and performative interventions to reclaim space. The use of physical theater, clowning, many random props as well as spectators and street furniture are part of their game
